Greeting from the Head of Department

Welcome to the KKA Department, where knowledge is shared and enriched through comprehensive academic programs, pioneering research, and collaborative efforts. We offer a Bachelor of Chemical Engineering with Honors, along with three Master’s programs by coursework: Master in Environmental Engineering, Master in Process Safety and Loss Prevention, and Master in Environmental Technology Management. Additionally, we provide over 17 specialized areas of study within Chemical and Environmental Engineering for our Master’s by full research and PhD programs. My team and I remain committed to continuing our tradition of delivering the best learning experience for our students.

As part of one of the nation’s leading engineering faculties, the KKA Department is dedicated to fostering a research and development environment where academic expertise meets industrial applications. We provide opportunities to work on projects that drive innovation and deliver lasting societal benefits, in line with the United Nation’s Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) goals.

Department History

The Department of Chemical and Environmental Engineering was established in August 1996 and currently offers Bachelor of Engineering (Chemical) programs for undergraduate studies. There are four focus areas offered by the department which include Process Engineering, Material Science and Engineering, Environmental Engineering, and Biochemical Engineering.

The program is currently fully accredited by by the Public Service Department (Malaysia), the Engineering Accreditation Council, Board of Engineers Malaysia and the Washington Accord. The department also offers three Master programmes by coursework, namely Environmental Engineering, Environmental Technology Management and Process Safety & Loss Prevention.

In addition, the department also offers postgraduate programme for Master and PhD degrees in areas such as Environmental Engineering, Process Engineering, Biochemical Engineering, Material Science and Engineering, and Process Safety and Reliability.
